I stopped by Vadnais-Snail Lakes Regional Park last week to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vadnais Lake Area Water Management Organization (VLAWMO) and the 50th anniversary of the Ramsey County Soil and Water Conservation Division.
A BIG thank you to staff and volunteers for all their work leading up to these milestones!

Presenting at a recent Gem Lake city council meeting
I’m visiting with city leaders in my district to update them on various Ramsey County initiatives.
I gave a presentation to Vadnais Heights city council members and staff, and stopped by to say hello to the ‘Munch Bunch’ goats behind City Hall. I also presented updates to council members/town board members and staff in Gem Lake and White Bear Township.
It’s been great to connect with local leaders and provide updates on the work that Ramsey County is doing in a variety of areas, including public safety, workforce development, housing, and more.
I'll be presenting to the Arden Hills city council tonight, to Mounds View on October 3rd, and to Shoreview at the Council's work session on October 16th. We're working on scheduling something with North Oaks, too.
Though summer is wrapping up, mosquitoes are still active and can transmit diseases such as West Nile Virus. Below are steps you can take to reduce the chance that you'll get bit by a mosquito carrying the virus:
- Stay indoors at dawn and dusk when most mosquitoes are active.
- Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants whenever you are outdoors.
- Spray clothing with repellents containing DEET or permethrin.
-
Apply insect repellent containing DEET sparingly to exposed skin. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for use of repellents. Several DEET repellents which are formulated for use on children are available. Ultrasonic devices and vitamin or herbal supplements do not provide effective prevention from mosquito bites.
- Remove any water-holding containers from your property, they can produce mosquitoes. If you are a resident of the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District, MMCD will recycle your unwanted tires provided they are off the rims.
I'll be hosting an event about property taxes on November 8th from 6 to 8:30 pm at new District 1 wine bar, In Vino Veritas. Stay tuned for further details! |
