Ramsey Connected

Ramsey Connected is an initiative designed to ensure all Ramsey County residents have access to low-cost internet and computers and the skills to use them.

Ramsey County believes internet access is a basic need and low-cost internet should be available to all residents. While Ramsey County is not an internet service provider, we serve as a promoter, connector and partner through our Ramsey Connected program.

Youth Justice Transformation Trip

YJT trip

Last week I had the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC with Commissioners Moran and Xiong, County Attorney John Choi, and others to visit with staff of the Department of Youth Rehabilitative Services and learn about the facilities and services for youth involved in the criminal justice system. I was impressed by their facilities for those committed to the department and their efforts to ensure youth receive educational, medical, and mental health services. As we continue to transform our youth justice system, learning from those who are doing good work around the country will help us build a vision for our future.

Northland Cup

Northland Cup

My aide, Ami, and I showing our Ramsey County pride at the Northland Cup

This weekend I attended the Northland Cup, a charitable hockey game between City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County employees, that benefits the St. Paul & Ramsey County Domestic Abuse Intervention Project. Ramsey County won the game by a score of 8-2, and we raised over $18,000!

Public Safety Event

I will be hosting a community conversation about public safety on April 26 from 6 to 8 pm at the Shoreview Library. We'll discuss public safety concerns and what the County Board is doing to address them. Hope to see you there!

Community Conversations: Environmental Service Center

ESc

Get a first look at preliminary plans for the county’s new Environmental Service Center (ESC) to be built in Roseville, and share your feedback to help shape the facility. The ESC will make it easier for residents to reduce, reuse and recycle. County staff will share information about ESC plans and be available to answer questions.

A virtual meeting will take place today from noon to 1:30 pm. There will also be an in-person open house on April 5th at the Ramsey County Library in Shoreview. More information, including a link to the Zoom meeting, can be found here.

Apply for an Advisory Board or Committee

Serving on a Ramsey County advisory board or committee is a great way to get involved with your local government and make a positive impact on your community. The board of commissioners appoint residents to serve in these important roles that help shape policy, review programs and plans, and represent families and residents in Ramsey County.

There are currently vacancies on the Community Health Services Advisory Committee, Extension Committee, and Parks and Recreation Commission. You can learn more about these advisory boards/committees and how to apply here. The deadline to apply is Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 11:59pm.
