Ask EH: Paper shredding
Q: How do I get rid of shredded paper?
A: Put shredded paper in your trash. You can also contact your city for possible shredding events or bring your confidential documents to a local company to shred for you.
Do not put shredded paper in your recycling cart. The tiny pieces are difficult to sort at the recycling facilities and won’t get recycled, even if you put them in a paper bag. Shredded paper is also not accepted at food scraps collection sites.
