Board of Commissioners Approves 2023 Supplemental Budget

The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners today unanimously approved the 2023 supplemental budget of $785,707,121.

Ramsey County uses a two-year budgeting process. 2023 is the supplemental year of the 2022-2023 budget. The 2023 budget includes a 4.54% increase to the property tax levy, which remains unchanged from the 2022-2023 budget that commissioners approved on Dec. 21, 2021.

The 2023 supplemental budget that was approved today includes $283,850 in administrative adjustments made since County Manager Ryan O’Connor presented the proposed budget to commissioners on Sept. 6, 2022. These adjustments are primarily due to rate changes for civil process and other service fees in the Sheriff’s Office and a temporary increase in staff support within the Board of Commissioners office. Changes also include an increase of one full-time equivalent for a grant-funded position in the Sheriff’s Office that will focus on DWI prevention and traffic safety. These changes have no impact on the property tax levy and will be paid for through a combination of increased revenue and existing fund balance.
