Ramsey Connected logo

Ramsey Connected is an initiative designed to ensure all Ramsey County residents have access to low-cost internet and computers and the skills to use them.

Ramsey County believes internet access is a basic need and low-cost internet should be available to all residents. While Ramsey County is not an internet service provider, we serve as a promoter, connector and partner through our Ramsey Connected program.

For more information on internet resources, please visit Ramsey County's webpage

R & E center tour

Thank you to everyone who attended our Recycling & Energy Center tour earlier this month! We had a great time learning about new initiatives like curbside organics...and the mattress shredding machine was pretty cool, too.

AMC Conference Re-cap

AMC conference

Several Commissioners and staff members attended the Association of Minnesota Counties' Annual Conference last week. It was a great opportunity to connect with and learn from county leaders from across the state.

I had the opportunity to learn more about Family Resource Centers, an emerging practice in Minnesota that may help the County better align the efforts of resource navigators and family coaches. I also learned about the challenges of supporting shoreline restoration in non-agricultural settings. Finally, I was reminded of the importance of strong leadership skills and a culture of respect and accountability in achieving organizational success.

Shout out to Ramsey County Commissioner Mary Jo McGuire, who was elected president of AMC's Board of Directors at the conference!

Homestead Applications Due January 3rd

The deadline to file for homestead status for property taxes paid in 2023 is January 3, 2023. Due to the county holiday schedule, most county offices are closed January 2 in observation of New Year's Day.

Residents need to apply for homestead if:

  • They’ve purchased a property in the past year and they, or a qualifying relative, occupy the property for homestead purposes on Dec. 31, 2022, or
  • They’ve made a change such as marital status, ownership or address, or
  • Their property is being used for homestead purposes on Dec. 31, 2022, and the property was previously classified as non-homestead.

You can find more information here.
