Following community feedback, a new system is being developed to improve accessibility and make it easier for all county residents to recycle, repair and reuse resources. The Enhancing Environmental Health Services initiative includes new and redesigned recycling and waste disposal services and a proposed county-owned Environmental Service Center.
Free electronics recycling now available for county residents
Ramsey County residents looking to get rid of laptops, televisions, cell phones or other electronics now have a free and easy way to recycle them. Ramsey County Environmental Health has a new collection site where county residents can drop off unwanted electronics (e-waste) which will be refurbished or recycled into new products.

The Ramsey County smoking and commercial tobacco use ordinance went into effect on Aug. 26, 2022.
The ordinance prohibits smoking and vaping commercial tobacco product use:
- On property owned, leased, rented, contracted or otherwise used or controlled by Ramsey County.
- In both indoor and outdoor spaces.
- In private vehicles parked on Ramsey County property.
