What a month! From our nation's birthday to neighborhood grill outs and beach days (check out Long Lake Regional Park beach above!), I often think of this part of summer as a time when we get to soak up time with the people who make up our communities.
I'm grateful for all of the communities in our District. Each has their own distinct character and feel. After hearing from the State Demographer's office last month at the Roseville Business Council, I'm also reminded of the exciting growing diversity of our communities. How can we continue to be places that value all of our neighbors, old and new? I hope you all might consider attending your local Night to Unite on August 2 and introduce yourself to someone new! I'll be out and about - maybe see you around!
Ramsey County is holding both virtual and in-person meetings. Our board meetings are taking place in the County Board offices in the Ramsey County Courthouse. My office continues to serve constituent needs via phone (651-266-8359) or email (caitlyn.duin@ramseycounty.us).
Sincerely,
Mary Jo

County Board Adopts Smoking and Commercial Tobacco Use Ordinance
On July 12, my colleagues on the County Board and I adopted an updated smoking and commercial tobacco use ordinance. This ordinance bans the use of tobacco on all county property.
We are committed to protecting the right of residents to right to breathe air without secondhand smoke and reducing youth use of tobacco, and this ordinance is part of that commitment. Thank you to all of the District 2 residents who shared their support and input on this ordinance.
Highlighting Innovative Ramsey County Workforce Investments at White House
Ramsey County is building innovative programs and making strategic investments with American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding that set us apart. Two investments, our Public Health Career Pathways program and our Childcare Academy program, are great examples of the innovations that ARPA made possible. The work our staff is doing in this area is groundbreaking!
Commissioner McGuire presenting here with colleagues from across the country.
It was an honor and privilege to lift up this amazing work earlier this month with Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House Summit on the American Rescue Plan and Workforce. I was grateful for the opportunity to highlight the great work being done here in Ramsey County by our staff and our community on this national stage.
