Hello all,
Wishing you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day today! I have been wearing green all week in anticipation. I celebrate this day to honor my father's heritage, I hope you will find ways in the coming year to celebrate your own.
But first of all, I want to acknowledge the tragedies unfolding in Ukraine. I stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and my heart goes out to our community members with family in Ukraine and all those affected by this conflict.
Ramsey County is starting to return to in-person meetings. Our board meetings are taking place in the County Board offices in the Ramsey County Courthouse. My office continues to serve constituent needs via phone (651-266-8359) or email (caitlyn.duin@ramseycounty.us).
Last month, I was fortunate to be able to participate in a County/Tribal Relations Training hosted by the Tribal Nations of Minnesota and the Association of Minnesota Counties. The goal was to build trust and mutual respect between tribal nations and counties. This experience had a profound impact on me and one which I hope that many more people will be able to participate in. AMC is working on providing more opportunities for this.
We are grateful that our data is showing a steady and significant decline in COVID-19 cases in Ramsey County and a “Low” community transmission status. Our Ramsey County public health leaders continue to urge community members to get vaccinated, boosted, and tested when you have symptoms or are exposed to someone with COVID-19.
So on this St. Patrick's Day, wherever you go and whatever you do, may the luck of the Irish be there with you!
Mary Jo

District Connections
Last week, I attended the Roseville Area Optimists' Club and heard from wonderful featured speaker Dennis Smith about bringing optimism to our own self-improvement, especially in emotional intelligence. Pictured here with former Ramsey County Commissioner Don Salverda and current Roseville Area Optimist Club President Terry Gorman.
I also attended a Ramsey County League of Local Governments meeting about the embedded social worker programs in Police Departments at the City of Maplewood and the City of Roseville. These programs are exciting partnerships between these city governments and Ramsey County.

I testified in the Senate Environment and Legacy Committee in support of Metro Regional Parks.

Earlier in the month, I joined County Commissioners from across the state as the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) met with state legislators to advocate for county issues.

It was time to dust off my hockey stick and head over to the Tria Arena this past weekend for the Northland Cup. City and County elected officials participated in a hockey shootout to raise funds for the St. Paul / Ramsey County Domestic Abuse Intervention Project. We are so grateful for the work they do in our community to support victims/survivors of domestic violence. For more information and how to support this important work, click here.
