Seeking bicyclist and pedestrian feedback on river crossing!
We're seeking feedback from bicyclists and pedestrians to enhance the experience of crossing the Mississippi River while offering a transit solution at the Highway 5 (West 7th Street) bridge as part of the Riverview Corridor Modern Streetcar project.
Please take a few moments to complete a brief online survey by March 25, 2022 and please share it with others who may be interested.
The Riverview Corridor is in the second year of a multi-year engineering and pre-environmental evaluation phase. During this stage, the Engineering and Pre-Environmental Team studies concepts for the Locally Preferred Alternative (Modern Streetcar). The team carefully evaluates operations, costs and ridership data. Through various engagement activities, such as surveys, open houses and other community events, we’ll create streetscape design goals and plan for improvements to the street and sidewalk environment. During this phase, traffic patterns, structures, utilities, groundwater and geographic data are analyzed for the best scenarios to bring into the upcoming Project Development Phase.

A Little Sweet n’ Salty Story
In 1909, P. Edward Pearson formed a confectionary distribution firm in Minneapolis, with help from his four brothers, beginning the Pearson’s Candy legacy. By 1950, Pearson’s had made the leap from Minneapolis to Saint Paul. Since 1959 it has been located in its current home on West 7th Street in Highland. Most famously known for Nut Goodies (circa 1912), Salted Nut Rolls (circa 1933) and Mint Patties (circa 1951), Pearson’s has changed hands several times in its 113-year (and counting) history and maintains its commitment to delivering high-quality, delicious Pearson’s candies for generations to come.
What a sweet stop along the corridor. Today, Pearson’s employs more than 145 people. This is one of hundreds of businesses to which all-day modern streetcar service will provide greater accessibility and connections.
