 June open house recap
The project team hosted a virtual open house on June 23 from 6-8 p.m. This meeting provided a summary of the process to date that led to the selection of modern streetcar as the Locally Preferred Alternative. The project team also reviewed the project’s Purpose and Need statement, project goals and objectives and provided a high-level overview of corridor conditions, community engagement efforts and next steps. Thank you to the many attendees who joined us and those who offered questions and comments. For those who were unable to attend, a recording of the presentation is available on the project website.

Purpose and Need statement to be finalized this month
The Riverview Corridor draft Purpose and Need statement and summary were available at riverviewcorridor.com for public comment from Monday, May 17 through Friday, June 25. The project team is currently reviewing comments and revising the document. The updated statement will be reviewed by the Riverview Corridor Policy Advisory Committee at their July 15 meeting, when they are expected to authorize its release to the Federal Transit Administration for review. Stay tuned for a summary of comments from the public and the finalized document.
A Purpose and Need statement is an important step in the federal environmental review process for developing transportation projects. It describes the underlying need to be met and the other factors to consider when evaluating alternatives. It also defines the range of reasonable alternatives to be considered in an environmental document. The document is used to inform the development of selection criteria, which will be used to evaluate future options and decisions in this process.
