Hazardous waste generator license renewal deadline approaching
The due date for hazardous waste generator license renewal application is approaching fast. To be on time, your 2020 annual report must be completed online and submitted by Jan. 31. After this date, a late penalty (10% of your total) may be added to your license fee. Please note that you will be able to make payments online and/or enroll in a payment plan for your license fee.

The Minnesota Legislature has approved a $217 million relief package for businesses impacted by COVID-19 executive orders. About half of the package will be given to counties to distribute through grant programs to local businesses by March 15, 2021.
Through the package, Ramsey County will receive $10.7 million to distribute to businesses. At this time, we anticipate that most of the funding will be used to supplement the Small Business Relief Fund.

Very Small Generator Collection Program.
We recognize that the pandemic has been difficult for the businesses that we regulate. Ramsey County has a Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) Collection Program that may provide a convenient and cost-effective disposal option for your business. VSQGs in Ramsey County are eligible to participate. If your business decides to participate in this program, your business will be responsible for paying disposal charges.

New online training available soon
Ramsey County is pleased to announce a new online hazardous waste training will be available soon. This training was developed in collaboration with Hennepin and Washington County under the Partnership on Waste and Energy. The training covers general hazardous waste compliance topics including county specific licensing. This training will be available on our website for generators to complete at their convenience. The English version of this training will be released in the coming month and will be followed by the release of a Spanish version of the training as well. To ensure that you receive notification of when this training and other trainings are available, please sign up for training notifications on our website.
