Overnight lane restrictions, temporary closures planned on Interstate 694 early next week

Traffic in both directions of I-694 will encounter lane restrictions and temporary closures during overnight work April 6-8 at the I-694/Rice Street interchange. During the overnight work, crews will install beams for the new northbound side of the Rice Street bridge.

April 6-7 overnight

  • Lane restrictions will begin at 10 p.m. Monday on both east and westbound I-694.
  • Beginning at 11:30 p.m., the Minnesota State Patrol will temporarily stop traffic in each direction for 10-15 minute intervals while bridge beams are lifted into place over eastbound I-694.
  • Lane reductions and temporary closures will be complete by 5 a.m. Tuesday.

April 7-8 overnight

  • Westbound I-694 will be closed and traffic will be detoured via the I-694 exit and entrance ramps at Rice Street from 10 p.m. Tuesday – 5 a.m. Wednesday.
  • The Minnesota State Patrol will control access to I-694 from Rice Street.

Rice Street construction begins Monday

Construction will begin April 6 on the segment of Rice Street south of the bridge over I-694. Crews will work on utility connections at the interchange and the roadway connection to Country Drive.

Please follow all posted signs to navigate the construction area.

Country Drive closes to traffic Monday

Country Drive between Spruce Street and Rice Street will close to traffic beginning Monday, April 6. The closure is expected to last until the end of June while the new Country Drive connection to Rice Street is constructed.

Detour

Traffic should follow the posted detour using Rice Street, South Owasso Boulevard and back to Country Drive.

Business access will be maintained from Rice Street.
