The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to serve on a number of volunteer boards and committees.
Share your vision for Ramsey County at community workshops this November
What do you want our future community to look and feel like? Attend a community visioning workshop this November to help define the next set of Ramsey County community indicators, measurements that provide information about past and current trends impacting the quality of life in our county.
All sessions are 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
The workshops will include small group discussions around a future vision for our community in topic areas including:
Civic engagement and government accountability.
Community health.
Youth, families and education.
Transportation, housing and environment.
Economic prosperity and opportunity.
Public safety and justice.
Input shared during the meetings will help shape the indicators uses to help set the county's strategic planning and budgeting over the next 10 years.
Food and childcare will be provided. Childcare is open to children who are potty trained through age 10. Children above age 10 are welcome to participate in the group discussions.
Advanced registrations are appreciated but not required.
Early voting available now through Election Day
Avoid the lines on Election Day by casting your ballot ahead of time through early voting!
Eight early voting locations will be open to Ramsey County residents from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4. You may visit the most convenient location for you, regardless of which city you live in!

Hours
Times vary by location. The Ramsey County Elections Office location will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. The other seven locations are open from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays through Nov. 1.
All locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 so voters can cast their ballot over the weekend.

It's time to Fall Back
On Sunday November 3 at 2:00 AM, marks the end of Daylight Saving Time. In addition to setting your clocks back one hour, it is the perfect time to replace the batteries in the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home.
Health and employment resources available for Water Gremlin employees
Ramsey County is providing health and employment services to Water Gremlin employees. This follows the State of Minnesota asking the court to halt operations at the company's location in White Bear Township on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019.
Ramsey County Emergency Management & Homeland Security, in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, is preparing for the upcoming winter season and sharing important safety and awareness tips. Each day of Winter Hazard Awareness Week is devoted to a specific topic:
Winter Hazard Awareness Week is also a good time to check your emergency kits and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Public Hearing on 2020-21 County Budget
A public hearing on the 2020-2021 biennial budget will take place Nov. 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Program Room of Ramsey County Library - Maplewood, 3025 Southlawn Dr, Maplewood. An open house will begin at 6 p.m.
If you wish to speak at a public hearing, please complete this online form or contact the Chief Clerk's Office at 651-266-8001 to register in advance or sign up in person at the hearing. You may also use the form to submit feedback if you are unable to attend.
Comments made at the hearing will also be shared with the appropriate city, school district and other taxing authorities.

Need help with holiday food and toys for your children?
Thanksgiving bags with all the fixings are available to families in need during the month of November. To set up an appointment please call the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. Operation Joy,an annual holiday toy and gift program for children ages birth to grade 12, takes place in December with registration starting November 1. Looking for ways to help?
Donations can be madeonline or by mailing a check to Ralph Reeder Food Shelf at 2544 Mounds View Blvd, Mounds View, MN 55112. For every dollar donated the Food Shelf can purchase up to $8 worth of food. Donations of nonperishable holiday food items and new unwrapped, toys, gifts or gift cards are also needed and can be dropped off between December 2 and December 18. Drop off hours are Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to noon or by appointment at the back entrance.
Outdoor Skating is Back at the OVAL!
The 2019-20 skating season opens Friday, November 8. Grab your skates and head over to at the Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL, 2661 Civic Center Drive. Skating is open from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is $7.00 or $62.00 for a 10-session punch card.
Workshops and discussions are informative presentations by the county departments and/or service teams to the board of commissioners that are often tied to the county’s strategic priorities. The presentations serve the following purposes:
To provide in-depth informational session to educate county board on topics of a strategic nature to the county.
To establish a foundation for policy/programmatic direction and/or future county board action.
To seek input on and/or guidance for future direction.
