Roadwork update: Larpenteur Avenue resurfacing and Highway 96 concrete repair begin next week, Long Lake Road closure and detour

August 2: Work begins next week on Larpenteur Avenue and Highway 96

Work will begin next week for projects on Larpenteur Avenue and Highway 96. A closure and detour of Long Lake Road between the I-35W exit ramp and County Road C will begin Monday.

Work was completed this week on the Energy Park Drive resurfacing.

Larpenteur Avenue resurfacing

Work will begin next week to resurface Larpenteur Avenue between Hazel Street and Geneva/Century Avenue in Maplewood and Saint Paul.

The road will be closed to through traffic, and through traffic should use alternate routes. Local residential access will be maintained throughout the project.

The project will take about four weeks to complete.

Bike lanes

The road will be restriped to add bike lanes. As a result, parking will be removed between Beebe Road and McKnight Road. Road layouts are available on our website.

Highway 96 concrete repair

Work will begin next week to repair the concrete pavement on Highway 96 between White Bear Parkway and Highway 61 in White Bear Lake. Work will include concrete joint replacement, surface repairs and catch basin repairs.

The project is expected to last through mid-October.

County Road C reconstruction - Long Lake Road detour

Work continues on the westbound lanes of County Road C between New Brighton Boulevard and Long Lake Road.

Long Lake Road will be closed to all traffic between the I-35W exit ramp and County Road C beginning Monday, Aug 5. The closure is expected to last two weeks while crews pour concrete pavement at the Long Lake Road and County Road C intersection.

Traffic will be able to exit I-35W and turn north onto Long Lake Road.

Signed detours will be in place for southbound traffic exiting I-35W and through traffic on Long Lake Road. Full detour information is available on the project webpage.

County Road C concrete repair

Pavement repair work on County Road C between Cleveland and Snelling avenues is expected to last through September. Signage and road striping work is expected to last through early fall.

Larpenteur Avenue 4-to-3 lane conversion

Work will continue next week to install temporary three-lane striping on Larpenteur Avenue between Dale Street and Rice Street and to construct temporary pedestrian refuge areas at Mackubin Street, Cumberland Street, Galtier Street and Woodbridge Court.

Larpenteur Avenue concrete repair

Work will continue through September to repair the pavement on Larpenteur Avenue between Malvern Street and Snelling Avenue. Signage and road striping work is expected to last through early fall.

Ongoing resurfacing projects: Centerville, Edgerton, Energy Park Drive, Century, Lexington and Long Lake Road

Centerville Road and Edgerton Street

Ground-in, high durability stripes will be installed next week on Centerville Road between Edgerton Street and County Road F and on Edgerton Street between Little Canada Road and Vadnais Boulevard/Centerville Road.

Both projects are expected to be complete by mid-August.

Energy Park Drive

Stripes have been added to Energy Park Drive between Highway 280 and Raymond Avenue. Work is now complete.

Century Avenue

Work began Aug. 1 on Century Avenue between Carver and Linwood avenues. Paving is complete, and temporary stripes will be installed next week.

Ground-in, high-durability stripes will be added to the road in mid-August. The project is expected to be complete by mid-August.

Lexington Avenue

Work began Monday to resurface Lexington Avenue between County Road C2 and County Road E. Paving is complete and temporary stripes have been installed.

Ground-in, high-durability stripes will be added to the road late next week. The project is expected to be complete by mid-August.

Long Lake Road

Work on the pedestrian ramps and storm sewers on Long Lake Road between the Rice Creek Bridge and County Road H2 will continue into mid-August. Pavement work is expected to begin in mid-August, and the project is expected to be complete in late August.

I-694/Rice Street interchange

Cleveland and Randolph avenues intersection
The city of Saint Paul is reconstructing the traffic signal at the intersection of Cleveland and Randolph avenues. Work is expected to last through August.
