 Changes Coming to Larpenteur Avenue
After the tragic deaths of two people crossing Larpenteur Avenue on foot near Rice Street, Ramsey County Public Works began to evaluate potential changes that could be implemented on the street to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.
Later this year, Larpenteur Avenue from Dale Street to Rice Street will be restriped as a three-lane road, with one lane in each direction and a center left turn lane. Pedestrian median crossings will also be constructed. The leftover space will be used to provide safe bicycle lanes. In 2020, these changes will be extended east of Rice Street to Jackson Street and beyond.

Route 62 Service Cuts Averted
Earlier this year, Metro Transit proposed service changes to Route 62 on Rice Street that would have cut service in half. Working with community partners and other elected officials, including the Rice-Larpenteur Alliance, we have convinced Metro Transit to hold off on service cuts for now. Ramsey County will be working with Metro Transit over the next year to boost ridership on Rice Street and expand access to Metro Transit's low-fare TAP program.

Fighting for Affordable Housing
We have a crisis of affordable housing in our community. Addressing that requires bold leadership and commitment from governments across Ramsey County. I'm proud to lead our efforts on the regional effort to address unsheltered homelessness, and to fight for more affordable housing wherever possible, including at transformative redevelopments like Ramsey County's Rice Creek Commons project in Arden Hills.

Supporting the Minnesota ERA
I think it's absurd that in 2019, women are still not guaranteed equal rights in our state and nation. That's why I sponsored and passed a resolution urging the Legislature to support adding an Equal Rights Amendment to the Minnesota Constitution.
