Severe Weather Awareness Week

Lightening

Severe Weather Awareness Week is April 8-12. Prepare for severe weather season by reviewing important safety and awareness tips this week.

Statewide Tornado Drill Day is Thursday, April 11

Outdoor warning sirens and NOAA alert radios will sound at 1:45 and 6:45 p.m. to allow businesses, schools and families chances to practice their severe weather sheltering plans.

Reporting potholes on county roads

car driving over pothole

Recent weather conditions have created a particularly bad year for potholes in Minnesota. Our maintenance crews continue to work extended hours to address potholes across the nearly 300-mile county road system.

The patch material available this time of year only lasts a few days. Repairs will last longer in the weeks ahead as roads are able to dry out from the spring snow melt. Thank you for your patience as we move through pothole season.

Act now - review your property valuation notice

Annual property valuation notices and tax statements were mailed to property owners in mid-March. Please review your valuation notices carefully. The taxable market value will be used to determine property taxes payable in 2019.

The time to question or appeal your market value is now. Open book meetings for property valuations are:

  • Tuesday, April 2.
  • Wednesday, April 3.

Please contact the Assessor's Office at 651-266-2131 to discuss your concerns. Many issues can be resolved over the phone.
