Flooding and pothole issues on county roadways

Warming temperatures, rain and February’s record-breaking snow are leading to localized flooding and pothole issues on county roadways.

I-694/Rice Street ramp closures begin March 18

Work begins next week on reconstructing the I-694/Rice Street interchange in Shoreview, Little Canada and Vadnais Heights.

We've created a dedicated email subscription list to share updates about the reconstruction, closures and detours during this multi-year project.

Subscribe to future I-694/Rice Sreet Interchange updates

Beginning Monday, the eastbound I-694 ramp to Rice Street and westbound I-694 ramp from Rice Street will be closed for approximately five months. Detours will be posted.

Eastbound I-694 ramp to Rice Street

Traffic will be detoured east on I-694 to I-35E south to Little Canada Road, then north on I-35E to I-694 west to Rice Street.

Local traffic can also exit west on Little Canada Road to Rice Street.

Westbound I-694 ramp from Rice Street

Traffic will be detoured north on Rice Street to west on Gramsie Road to south on Victoria Street to the I-694 westbound ramp.

Local traffic south of I-694 can also take Rice Street south to east on Little Canada Road to I-35E north to I-694 westbound.

Rice Street lane shifts begin April 1

Rice Street will remain open to two-way traffic throughout the project.

Starting April 1, all traffic from from North Owasso Boulevard to Vadnais Boulevard will shift to the east half of the road with one lane open in each direction. The west half will be closed for construction.


Lane closures on County Road D March 18-19

Eastbound County Road D near the Maplewood Mall will be closed overnight March 18-19 for Saint Paul Regional Water Services to repair a water main break. Westbound County Road D will remain open.

Eastbound traffic should follow the signed detour using Southlawn Drive, Beam Avenue and White Bear Avenue.

Open house: Lexington Parkway reconfiguration

An open house will be held Tuesday for the proposed realignment of Lexington Parkway at West 7th Street in Saint Paul. Attend the open house to provide feedback on the project and learn about new development on the school site.
