Success Story:
Splash Products Melts Away Their Trash Bill by Recycling More
Splash Products, a Saint Paul based manufacturer of windshield wash, ice melt, wiper blades, antifreeze and cleaners, was already recycling. They had a process to regrind the discarded plastic from molding their bottles, as well as systems for recycling cardboard and pallets. Yet, they felt there was more they could be doing, like single-sort recycling throughout the entire facility. So, they applied for and used a BizRecycling grant to build a new waste enclosure to house recycling and trash dumpsters. They also purchased color-coded recycling bins for use throughout their facility to make it easier for their employees to recycle.
Thanks to the addition of the single-sort recycling system, Splash Products downsized from a 40-yard trash compactor to an 8-yard dumpster – saving them $15,000 a year in disposal costs! They are reinvesting that money into their business to help create new technology for their manufacturing processes. Watch their video story here.
