Success Stories:

Roseville Church Cuts Their Trash Pickups in Half

To improve their recycling, Twin City Chinese Christian Church in Roseville used grant money from BizRecycling to buy color-coded recycling bins and additional signage. The church’s youth minister recruited teenagers to help translate the recycling signs, so they were accessible to all parishioners. Congregants were excited to see the teens using their Chinese language skills, plus the teens were excited to help the congregation recycle more. The church was able to cut their trash pickups in half, and are saving over $800 a year in hauling costs!

BizRecycling works with interested businesses of all sizes in Ramsey and Washington counties to start or improve their recycling or organics recycling programs. To find out more about the BizRecycling program, visit BizRecycling.com, or call 651-266-1199.

Arts Program Composts Organics Recycling to Maintain Garden

ARTS-Us is a non-profit organization that provides after-school and summer art programs. They also teach youth about actions that benefit the environment. Recently, the organization set out to reduce the amount of organics recycling in their own trash.

Through a Ramsey County grant, construction began on an outdoor compost bin for yard waste, as well as three “worm wigwams” to compost food scraps using red wiggler worms. ARTS–Us is now composting all their food waste, yard waste and paper, which amounts to approximately 4,400 pounds a year. The end product is used to maintain a healthy garden they planted.
