Construction of Phase 1 improvements will begin on Monday, June 26. The northbound I-35W ramps to and from County Road I will be closed starting the morning of Monday, June 26. Detours will be marked by signs on the roadway and are available on our interactive map.
Detour details
From County Road I to northbound I-35W: Travel north on Rice Creek Parkway to County Road J/85th Avenue NE. At County Road J turn left and travel westbound to Airport Road. At Airport Road take a right and continue onto the U.S. Highway 10 eastbound on-ramp. Travel U.S. Highway 10 eastbound to the I-35W northbound exit. The turn for the exit is from the left lane.
From northbound I-35W to County Road I: Exit northbound I-35W at County Road 10/Mounds View Boulevard. Take County Road 10/Mounds View Boulevard north to County Road I.

Project timeline and impacts
The ramp from I-35W northbound to County Road I will reopen in September at the completion of Phase 1. The ramp onto I-35W northbound from County Road I will remain closed permanently. Traffic on County Road I will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction.
The improvements, including the removal of the on-ramp loop on County Road I to northbound I-35W, are being coordinated with MnDOT’s I-35W Managed Lanes project.
