UPDATE: COUNTY ROAD H & I-35W INTERCHANGE PROJECT
(updated 9/30/16)
****The temporary exit from Southbound I-35W onto Program Drive will be closed in the coming weeks to complete the permanent exit ramp and roundabout construction. Please refer to county's website in the below link for more information.****
Improvements include a new, wider bridge over the interstate with two traffic lanes in each direction as well as a multi-use path providing connectivity for users of the Rice Creek North Regional Trail. The intersection of County Road H and Highway 10 will also be completely reconstructed with a raised center median on County Road H, additional turn lanes, and a new traffic signal. Both I-35W ramp intersections with County Road H will include roundabouts. With more than 2,000 roundabouts already in use nationwide, this type of intersection traffic control has proven to reduce traffic delays and improve safety. For more information, visit the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s website on roundabouts.
The project will improve access to Rice Creek Commons. Ramsey County and the City of Arden Hills are in the process of selecting a master developer for the site and will begin the construction of site infrastructure improvements in 2017.The County Road H and Highway 10 intersection will be mostly open to through traffic on Highway 10 during construction, although some closures will be necessary. Improvements on County Road H, including the bridge over I-35W, will be complete by the end of 2016. Other work adjacent to I-35W will extend into the summer of 2017. Construction updates will be provided on the county’s website and MnDOT for the project.
