Friends of the Ramsey County Libraries Book It 5K Walk/Run!
Calling
all runners, walkers, strollers, volunteers, and library lovers! The
Friends will sponsor the seventh annual Book It! 5K Walk/Run at 9:00am
on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Roseville Library. Join friends, family
and neighbors for this healthy fundraising event that supports the
Summer Reading Program for children and teens.
WHO: Everyone! All ages welcome. Stroller friendly! (No pets please.)
WHERE: Begins at the Ramsey County Library - Roseville 2180 Hamline Ave and proceeds around Roseville's scenic Central Park.
WHEN: Saturday, May 21. Race begins at 9:00am. In-person registration begins at 7:30am.
COST:
- May 6 and after: $32 per adult or $85 per family
- Age 12 and under: $15 anytime
Race proceeds will support the Summer Reading Program for
children and teens at all seven Ramsey County Libraries. Being out of
school for three months often halts students’ academic progress. The
Summer Reading Program is one way that children can maintain their
skills and, in some cases, actually increase their reading ability. Last
summer 7,294 children and teens participated in our Summer Reading
Program. That would not have been possible without the help of people
like you.
Ramsey County Seeking Election Judges
Ramsey County needs 2,000 people to serve as election judges for the
2016 presidential election. Election judges help ensure that eligible
voters get to exercise their most basic democratic right - the right to
vote.
To be an election judge in Minnesota, one must be an eligible voter and able to read, write and speak English.
Election
judges start work at 6:00 a.m. and work until around 9:00 p.m. with
breaks given throughout the day. All election judges must complete two
hours of paid training before working as a judge.
Election judges
are paid $150 for a full day of work. Judges are needed for the primary
on August 9 and for the general election on November 8.
If you are interested in serving as an election judge, please contact Ramsey County at 651-266-2171 or electionjudge@co.ramsey.mn.us.
