Public Meetings to Discuss ADA Transition Plan for Ramsey County Parks System

Three meetings will be held Nov. 18 and 19 to gather input and assess priorities

Ramsey County Parks & Recreation is currently in the process of developing an ADA transition plan to make the county’s parks and recreation sites accessible.

In collaboration with Recreation Accessibility Consultants, the county will hold three public meetings in November to gather community feedback on accessibility priorities:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 18
    6 – 8 p.m.
    Vadnais Sports Center
    1490 County Road E East
    Vadnais Heights, MN 55110

  • Thursday, Nov. 19
    10:30 a.m. – noon
    Battle Creek Community Recreation Center
    75 S Winthrop Street
    Saint Paul, MN 55119

  • Thursday, Nov. 19
    6 – 8 p.m.
    Goodrich Golf Course Clubhouse
    1820 Van Dyke Street
    Maplewood, MN 55109

Based on information gathered at the public meetings and site evaluations conducted by Recreation Accessibility Consultants, a transition plan will be developed to make parks and recreation sites accessible.

Corrective accessibility work throughout the parks system will be phased for years to come. Community engagement is vital to help identify the best approach to phase this work while ensuring that accessible park and recreation opportunities are available throughout Ramsey County.

Topics discussed during the meetings will include access priority for golf courses, ice arenas, parks, trails, playgrounds, distance residents are willing to travel for an accessible park, and if regional parks should have a higher priority than county parks.
