Aug. 9: 2024 Street Rehabilitation Project Update
All timelines are approximate and weather dependent
General Notes for All Project Areas
Please turn off irrigation zones near the street while the contractor is working on curb removal/replacement.
Newly poured curb takes 7 days to harden and should not be driven on during this time. Owners should park on the street and have cars out of the construction area during the working day.
The city’s construction inspector, Moe Omer, will be onsite regularly during construction and is available to answer questions. His contact information is momer@plymouthmn.gov or 763-509-5529.
Mapledell
City staff have begun milling and paving this neighborhood. Unfortunately, the mill broke down during operation. Once the mill is fixed, operations will resume, and paving will follow shortly after.
Heritage/Medicine Lake Highlands
The contractor plans to finish final paving for this neighborhood (including 37th Avenue, but excluding Rosewood Lane) the week of August 19.
Rosewood Lane, south of 34th Avenue, was ready to pave on July 29. Unfortunately, an unknown water source had been saturating the soils in the road. The city used leak detection equipment as well as manually dug holes looking for a leak in the drinking water infrastructure. No leaks were found. Additional soil correction was conducted within the road to try and improve compaction. Unfortunately, we are still finding excessive amounts of water in soils within this road section. The city is asking that all homeowners adjacent to this roadway, as well as the homeowners on 34th Avenue between Rosewood Lane and Northwest Boulevard, turn off their irrigation systems adjacent to the road and direct their sump pumps away from the road. Hopefully this additional action, along with anticipated drier weather, will allow the road to sufficiently dry to the point it can be paved.
Westridge Estates/Forster Preserve
The contractor plans to finish curb work early the week of August 12. They will then move into building the trail along the south side of Old Rockford Road. Daytime water infrastructure work on Old Rockford Road is also planned for the week of August 12. Several homes will be affected and will be without water service during the day. All affected properties will be notified in advance
Nathan Lane, Schmidt Lake Road, 45th Avenue, Highway 169 Service Drive
The contractor is planning to do storm sewer replacement work across Schmidt Lake Road the week of August 12. Nighttime water infrastructure work along Schmidt Lake Road is also planned for the week of August 12. Several homes and businesses will be affected and will be without water service during the nighttime. All affected properties will be notified in advance.
