Plymouth seeks volunteers for Community Emergency Response Team
The Plymouth Public Safety Department is accepting applications for volunteers interested in bolstering Plymouth’s emergency preparedness by joining the Community Emergency Response Team.
CERT volunteers play a critical role in providing support to public safety crews at emergency scenes and disaster sites. They also work proactively to participate in community preparedness planning and provide public education and outreach.
All CERT members will receive a total of 24 hours of initial basic training, which will be offered later this fall. Applicants need not have previous public safety experience. CERT volunteers represent a wide range of ages, backgrounds and professions. All interested residents are encouraged to apply.
In addition to completing the CERT volunteer application, eligible candidates must live or work in Plymouth, have a high school degree or equivalent, be at least 21 years old, have a valid Minnesota driver’s license and pass a criminal background check.
Applications are due Friday, July 19. For more information about CERT and to fill out an application, visit plymouthmn.gov/CERT or call Fire Battalion Chief Tom Evenson at 763-509-5124.
