Construction Update - July 14
Construction continued this week in Phase 1 (54th Avenue and Hwy 169 Service Drive from 54th Avenue to Schmidt Lake Road) with storm sewer and concrete curb installation. The contractor also graded the roadway in preparation for paving on Saturday and early next week. The intersection of 54th Avenue and Hwy 169 Service Drive remains closed to install concrete curb and the first layer of pavement. The Hwy 169 Service Drive will remain closed at the Schmidt Lake Road intersection through the month of July.
This Saturday, July 15th, the contractor will be working at night in the Nathan Lane cul-de-sac and the intersection of Nathan Lane and 54th Avenue to pave both layers of asphalt. It is anticipated to start at 5 p.m. and finish around midnight. Also on Saturday, the contractor will pave the first layer of asphalt in areas of Phase 1, including 54th Avenue and the Hwy 169 Service Drive, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Next week the contractor will pave the remaining first layer of asphalt in Phase 1. Restoration behind the curb and trail paving at Schmidt Lake Road will also occur. Some prep work in Phase 2 (streets north of 54th Avenue) may begin next week but this work will not impact traffic.
Access to businesses and residences in the Nathan Area will remain open to traffic by using Bass Lake Road and Nathan Lane for properties on 54th Avenue and to the north, or by using Schmidt Lake Road/Nathan Lane/51st Avenue for properties south of 54th Avenue. However, delays should be anticipated during construction with narrowed roadways and detours in and around the project area.
