Plymouth City Council filing period open Aug. 2-16
The filing period for City Council seats in the upcoming general election begins Tuesday, Aug. 2. The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.
Filing must be completed with the city clerk during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, at Plymouth City Hall, 3400 Plymouth Blvd.
The following four-year term city seats will be on the Nov. 8 ballot:
- Mayor
- Ward 2 council member (southwest Plymouth)
- Ward 4 council member (northeast Plymouth)
- At large council member (citywide)
Residents may determine their ward by visiting the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website.
To file for office, candidates must be eligible to vote, at least 21 years old by the time they take office and live in the district for which they are running for at least 30 days before the election. The top vote getters will assume office in January 2023.
Candidates must file an affidavit of candidacy and pay a $5 filing fee with the city clerk’s office. The deadline to withdraw is 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18.
