Much has transpired since my last community message, when the spread of COVID-19 was top of mind. Since then, we have all been shaken by the murder of George Floyd while in custody of Minneapolis police officers. The scene captured on cell phone video was horrific and intolerable.
Mr. Floyd’s death has led to unimaginable grief and loss for his family and friends – and has touched and saddened us all. People across Minnesota and the nation have been left hurting.
The unrest that has followed in the Twin Cities and across the country has resulted in unease and confusion for many. Trust between law enforcement agencies and the people they protect and serve is essential – and our police department is committed to upholding that trust. Please be assured that the safety of all is our top priority in Plymouth.
Public Safety
The Plymouth Public Safety Department will continue to share pertinent information with the public as it becomes available. Plymouth police remain in close communication with local and state law enforcement agencies and continue to coordinate with departments across Hennepin County to ensure that we are able to assist one another, if needed.
It’s more important than ever to remain community-minded. Please reach out to neighbors and report suspicious activity by calling 911 or Hennepin County Dispatch at 952-258-5321.
Coronavirus-Related Information
Through all of this, we have not lost sight of the impact of coronavirus. Our first responders are following COVID-19 protocols to keep the public and themselves safe.
Additionally, all city departments continue to serve the public and are preparing to gradually reopen city offices and facilities to safely provide in-person service.
More information about city offices reopening will be shared in coming days – and you can always find current information at plymouthmn.gov/coronavirus.
