Water Quality Standards. EPA approval of TSS/Eutrophication amendments

On January 23, 2015 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)  issued an approval of the following adopted amendments to the State Water Quality Standards:

- new standards addressing eutrophication of rivers and streams,Mississippi River pools and    Lake Pepin; and

- replacement of the existing turbidity standard with a standard of total suspended solids.

EPA’s approval letter and a discussion of the basis for EPA’s approval are posted on the rulemaking webpage at http://www.pca.state.mn.us/6paqdkc in the “Rulemaking Documents” tab.  Notice of the MPCA’s adoption of these amendments was published in the August 4, 2014 State Register.
