We are excited to announce that the Minnesota GreenCorps program received notification of our AmeriCorps award for the 25-26 program year. Minnesota GreenCorps, a professional development program coordinated by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), is looking for motivated, service-minded individuals to improve the environment and build community resilience throughout the state.
The MPCA is recruiting 58 full-time members to serve for 11 months, from October 8, 2025 to September 4, 2026. Members are placed at local governments including tribal nations, nonprofits, and educational institutions statewide.
Members are placed at local governments including tribal nations, nonprofits, and educational institutions statewide and serve on projects:
Reducing air pollutants by encouraging green transportation and building retrofits.
Conducting community outreach and education on environmental stewardship practices.
Implementing green infrastructure improvements to reduce stormwater runoff and improve habitat.
Reducing waste by implementing recycling and organics programs and encouraging material reuse.
Minnesota GreenCorps members receive a living allowance, health insurance, student loan forbearance, and an education award for future education expenses or qualified student loans. As a professional development program, members receive training and the opportunity to develop green job skills, gain professional experience, and network with environmental professionals.
The number of new members for the 2025-2026 program year and length of their service will depend on continuing federal funding. While federal funding has been allocated for the program year 2025-2026, federal funding has been fluid since January 2025 and additional actions at the federal level could impact this program. There is a chance that funding will be removed during the program year, and that could impact the number of members and length of service.

I think the most important way that GreenCorps prepared me for my future was through the real-world experience of working in a field I was interested in. The parts of having a job that aren’t taught in school were filled in by my GreenCorps service – an invaluable teaching moment.”
