The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s (MPCA) Remediation Division has updated the following guidance document:
Green and Sustainable Remediation (state.mn.us) replaces the historic document Green and sustainable remediation c-prp1-10, which was created for the Petroleum Remediation Program. The updated guidance provides information and references applicable to all Remediation sites.
And published the following brand new guidance documents:
Remediation Division Methane Guidance (state.mn.us) provides general information about methane in the environment generated by landfills, dumps, feedlots, and contaminated sites, and general guidance on investigating, monitoring, and responding to methane at MPCA Remediation Division sies. The historic document Guidelines for Monitoring for Landfill Gas at and Near Former Dumps c-rem3-04 has been retired, with any relevant content incorporated into the new guidance document.
Surface Water and Sediment Evaluation at Remediation Sites (state.mn.us) explains the application of existing surface water quality rules and standards, and outlines the assessment process to evaluate risks posed to receptors in surface waters and aquatic sediments from potential or actual nonpoint discharges at Remediation Division sites.
These guidance updates are effective immediately. They are part of the Remediation Division’s larger major effort to update our guidance. For questions about using the guidance documents at your Remediation Division site, please contact your site Project Manager. If you have questions about the guidance document project as a whole, feel free to contact Jessie Ebertz (Jessica.ebertz@state.mn.us or 651-757-2328).
The mission of the MPCA is to protect and improve the environment and human health.
