See a fish kill? Make a call.
The hot, dry weather this week and the chance for more frequent extreme weather events may result in fish kills. Be sure to immediately report any dead or dying fish you see to the Minnesota Duty Officer at 1-800-422-0798.
They can be caused by weather, disease, changes in water quality or temperature, water levels, and external sources such as polluted runoff.
The faster agency personnel are on site, the better the chance of determining the cause of a fish kill.
If you see a fish kill, make a call!

NPDES and chronic WET testing permittees: important reminders for form submittals
Please remember to completely fill out forms sent to the MPCA Water Quality submittal center. Forms must be dated and signed in all applicable areas. These are legal forms, and the agency cannot accept them if they are incomplete and unsigned.
For NPDES permittees who have acute or chronic Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) testing, please submit a PDF copy of the WET report. You must also submit the WET MPCA form, making sure the certifications section is signed by both the WET lab and permittee.
Chronic WET testing permittees must submit a PDF copy of the WET report. You must also submit two MPCA chronic WET forms, the chronic fathead minnow test and the chronic ceriodaphnia dubia test. Both the chronic WET forms must be signed by the WET lab and the permittee.
Please contact Dann White with questions.
