MPCA Green Chemistry Update - Toxicity Reduction Grant proposals due Dec. 15th

The MPCA has approximately $65,000 available for grant awards.  The MPCA will select for award those projects that best meet the environmental outcomes outlined in this Request for Proposal (RFP) within funding limitations.

Project proposals must fall under at least one of these categories:

  • Curriculum development. Develop and implement curricula to demonstrate green chemistry and/or safer product design at secondary and or post-secondary educational institutions. Projects must show the development of new syllabi, lesson plans and/or lab experiments; number of enrolled students reached; pre/post-testing to measure green chemistry/safer product design awareness; or achievement of waste reduction as a result of new lab experiments development. Maximum grant award, per project: $15,000.
  • Community-focused product toxicity reduction. Develop and implement outreach on a community scale to reduce exposure to commonly-used products which contain chemicals of concern, particularly exposures to children, women who are pregnant or preparing for pregnancy, employees in the workplaces, or other subpopulation(s) experiencing disproportionate or localized exposures to environmental toxins and other stressors. Projects may focus on local businesses or institutions with common opportunity to change the content of products provided to the public, particular groups of consumers or neighborhood resident with common exposure concerns, or other groups as the proposer identifies. Maximum grant award, per project: $50,000.

MPCA personnel are not authorized to discuss this RFP with applicants, and contact regarding this RFP with any MPCA personnel may result in disqualification.
