3M East Metro Settlement Updates

Submit your project ideas for solutions for East Metro communities' drinking water needs

To support the development of the Conceptual Drinking Water Supply Plan, the MPCA and DNR are asking for conceptual project ideas that will provide long-term solutions for the East Metro communities' drinking water needs. We are looking for ideas aimed at improving drinking water quality and/or quantity. At this time, we are not taking project ideas related to: recreational use projects, habitat improvements projects, and administrative or communication projects.

You can submit your project ideas using this online form. The form is short and self-explanatory. It doesn’t ask about monetary needs. It’s simply a way for the MPCA and DNR to collect additional concepts for addressing drinking water needs now and into the future.

The deadline to submit your idea is September 4, 2019.

If you have questions, please email us at pfcinfo.pca@state.mn.us.

In February 2018,  Minnesota and the 3M Company settled their lawsuit regarding natural resource damages associated with a group of chemicals known as PFCs. 3M is making a grant of $850 million as a condition of the settlement to address two priorities in the east metro area. Priority 1 is safe drinking water and groundwater sustainability. Priority 2 is restoring and enhancing natural resources.
