3M East Metro Settlement Updates

Work group conference calls next week

The Citizen–Business Work Group and Government and 3M Working Group will not be meeting in person this month. Instead, each group will have a conference call. Anyone can join this conference call. Details on how to join are on the 3M Settlement website.

During the call, group members will learn more about the path forward on the expedited projects, including next steps. A list of organizations and individuals that applied for expedited project grants is available on the 3M Settlement Projects webpage

Sales of water treatment systems

The Minn. Department of Health is warning consumers of deceptive tactics in sales of some water treatment systems. Scammers use bogus tests, false claims and inaccurate data. More details are available in an MDH news release.

June meeting notes

The notes and presentations from June’s work group meetings are posted on the 3M Settlement site:

In February 2018,  Minnesota and the 3M Company settled their lawsuit regarding natural resource damages associated with a group of chemicals known as PFCs. 3M is making a grant of $850 million as a condition of the settlement to address two priorities in the east metro area. Priority 1 is safe drinking water and groundwater sustainability. Priority 2 is restoring and enhancing natural resources.
