Listening session Wednesday, January 11 on a possible Northern Metals settlement

The City of Minneapolis and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will discuss recent developments regarding air pollution in North Minneapolis and Northern Metals Recycling at a community listening session hosted by Minneapolis City Council Member Blong Yang.

Northern Metals, the City, and the MPCA are close to reaching a settlement. Part of the settlement includes the company setting aside a sum of money to be used for remedying the effects of the company’s excess air pollution.  The final agreement needs to include details about how to use this funding. Input is needed from Ward 5 residents  on how best to use this part of the settlement (for example, pollution reduction or community health projects, etc.).
