North Minneapolis Park Improvements |
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) has launched a major project that will bring improvements to parks and a regional trail along Minneapolis' northern boundary.
We want to hear from you about planning improvements along Shingle Creek Regional Trail, including creek restoration; as well as improvements in the neighborhood parks bordering the trail - Creekview and Shingle Creek parks - and nearby Bohanon Park.
This project builds on long-range vision plans for these parks and the trail, which were developed and approved in 2019 as part of the long-range vision plan for North Minneapolis neighborhood parks.
Following this phase of planning and design, we anticipate construction on this project will begin in spring 2028.

Input from the community plays a key role in shaping the concept plan for this project. MPRB needs to hear from community members to help guide priorities and ensure that the park improvements reflect the neighborhood's needs, desires and ideas.
As planning begins, we invite everyone to take an online survey to share their thoughts about improvements at Shingle Creek Park/Creekview Park and help prioritize what may be included in this project.
The survey is open through September 30 and will be followed by additional opportunities to get involved in the project.

 A historic 2016 agreement between MPRB and the City of Minneapolis, NPP20 helps address racial and economic equity across 160 neighborhood parks, providing more than $13 million annually to maintain, repair and replace facilities.
