Free family events allow people to fish for free with bait, equipment and guides provided
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board hosts Take A Kid Fishing Day at four different park locations on Saturday, June 7, 2025, 10 am-1 pm!
These events are part of Minnesota's annual Take A Kid Fishing Weekend June 6-8. It allows state residents ages 16 or older to take a child 15 or younger fishing without a license to help develop interest in the outdoors through fishing.
Minneapolis Parks supports this great initiative with events at four park locations on Saturday, June 7, 10 am-1 pm:
- Boom Island Park - Riverfront Plaza
- Lake Harriet - Bandshell Dock
- Lake Nokomis - North Dock
- Wirth Lake - Boat Launch Dock
All fishing equipment, bait, and guides will be provided for free! Share a morning with a kid and create a lifelong interest in the outdoors through fishing. The events are free, but pre-registration is requested.
