Join the 2025 Minneapolis Earth Day Cleanup on April 19!
Earth Day at Boom Island Park
The 31st annual Minneapolis Earth Day Clean Up is on Saturday, April 19, 2025, 9:30 am-12 pm!
Join the largest community service event in Minneapolis, with more than 40 sites across the city’s park system. Since its inception in 2008, more than 23,000 residents have come together to remove over 165,000 pounds of garbage!
This is a drop-in volunteer activity, no need to pre-register. Simply choose a site that works for you and arrive at 9:30 am on Saturday, April 19. Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board staff or volunteers will provide bags and gloves at all Earth Day sites and City of Minneapolis Solid Waste and Recycling will properly dispose of all collected materials.

Earth Day Frequent Asked Questions
What should I wear? What do I need to bring?
Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Expect to walk on grass or uneven surfaces and to bend down to pick up debris. Bags and gloves will be provided. Be sure to bring water, snacks, and any other personal items you might need.
Where should I park?
Parking at MPRB meters and lots will not be enforced until 1 pm on Saturday, April 19. Just ensure you're parked at an MPRB location. A map of MPRB parking facilities can be found here.
Are kids welcome?
Absolutely! We do ask that children are accompanied by an adult.
What if we find heavy or sharp objects?
Please do not touch any heavy, sharp, or potentially hazardous items. Each site coordinator will provide specific instructions, but we ask that volunteers take a picture of the item and note the location. Site coordinators will help you submit this information to MPRB staff, who will address the issue.
Do we need to stay for the entire event?
You are welcome to volunteer for any amount of time that fits your schedule. We appreciate any time you can dedicate to the cleanup and are grateful for your help!
What if we want to clean up but can’t participate in the event this year?
If you're in the City of Minneapolis and want to host your own cleanup at any time of the year, the City of Minneapolis can help connect you with information and supplies.
