Red, White, and Boom Fourth of July event returns to the Downtown Minneapolis Riverfront

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) will resume hosting its “Red, White and Boom!” Fourth of July event on the Downtown Minneapolis Riverfront in 2024!
This year festivities will take place on the west side of the river, at Water Works and the Stone Arch Bridge parking lot. Live music and food trucks are planned to start at 6 pm on July 4, 2024, with fireworks at 10 pm.
“People love Fourth of July fireworks on the Downtown Minneapolis riverfront. We heard that from communities we serve, partners we work with, and our own staff, so we’re excited to bring back this beloved tradition,” said Al Bangoura, MPRB Superintendent.
The Minneapolis Red, White and Boom event was last held in 2019. Large events were not permitted due to pandemic restrictions in 2020, then the MPRB shifted to hosting a handful of smaller Fourth of July events spread across the city in 2021 and 2022. In 2023, a patriotic laser light show celebrated the Fourth of July at Boom Island Park.
The Stone Arch Bridge will be completely closed during Red, White and Boom this year due to a repair project by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT). If you’re interested in more information on the Stone Arch Bridge repair, MNDOT is hosting a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, 5:30-6:30 pm. More details regarding Red, White and Boom viewing and access for will be added to the Red, White and Boom page as planning progresses.
