Celebrate the monarch butterfly's amazing, 2,300-mile migration from Minnesota to Mexico
People who love butterflies, native plants, music and art will once again come together on September 9 for the free 2023 Minneapolis Monarch Festival / Festival de la Monarca.
The Festival features plenty of opportunities to get up close to observe and learn about these amazing pollinators, along with music and dance, art activities, games, food and more: See highlights below or at monarchfestival.org.

Join us at Lake Nokomis Park, northeast of the lake and near the Nokomis Naturescape, a certified Monarch Waystation.

Festival Highlights
Monarch encounters Observe these insects up-close; learn about their 2,300-mile journey between Minnesota and the mountains of Michoacán, Mexico; find out simple things everyone can do to help restore their population
Monarch-friendly plants Purchase native flora to create a habitat in your yard for butterflies and other pollinators

Performances galore Main Stage performances include music from Salsa del Sol, Brass Messengers, and Tropical Zone Orchestra; and dance from Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca and Kalpulli KetzalCoatlicue
Art, exhibitors and more Join in paper making, screen and block printing and other creative endeavors; visit more than 20 exhibitors sharing information and opportunities for a healthier environment for all living creatures
Great tastes Minnesotan, Mexican and Latin foods plus other eats and treats available for purchase
