Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board launches Diamond Sports Facilities Study
Project Open House is scheduled March 21, 5-6:30 pm at MPRB Headquarters
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is conducting a Diamond Sports Facilities Study that will assess diamond sports facilities like baseball and softball fields across the Minneapolis park system and develop recommendations to improve them.
The study will consider and recommend standards on a number of factors affecting the quality of experience for people using diamond sports facilities:
- Maintenance standards for each type of facility
- Programming, access and use
- Permits for recreation use
- Distribution of facilities
- Implementation of planned facilities, including timelines and funding opportunities
This is the first study in a plan to assess all athletic facilities in the Minneapolis park system and develop strategies for improving them. Studies on field sports, court sports and winter sports will be completed in order after diamond sports.
