Concrete walls for walkways, planted areas and outdoor seating are beginning to take shape
Southbound parkway closure will last for about six weeks
Construction on a new concessions pavilion area at Bde Maka Ska is progressing well with site walls nearly complete and work beginning on building footings and foundations.
Starting Monday, Aug. 1, southbound East Bde Maka Ska Parkway will be closed to vehicle traffic from Lake Street to 36th Street. This closure is scheduled to last for six weeks.
The bike trail will be detoured onto the closed parkway road for a short stretch and the pedestrian trail will remain open, except for a few brief instances when pedestrians will also be detoured onto the closed parkway.
Please follow all detour signs and watch out for construction vehicles.

About the Bde Maka Ska Pavilion Rebuild Project
The project will create two new buildings, including new, all-gender accessible restrooms and ample outdoor public seating to replace the building that burned down in 2019.
The Minneapolis Sailing Center and Wheel Fun Rentals are operating at northeast Bde Maka Ska this season.
Work will continue throughout the year and the new buildings are scheduled to open next summer. Please stay away from construction areas and follow all detour signs.
Visit the Bde Maka Ska Refectory Rebuild project page and subscribe to email updates for periodic construction updates and information on trail or road closures related to this project.
