Tons of free activities for kids during Minneapolis Public Schools Spring Break
Youth are welcome at Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis recreation centers over spring break! Browse a wide variety of FREE youth and family activities below and sign up to stay busy and have fun over Spring Break!

All programs are free, but preregistration is encouraged. All program participants must follow COVID-19 safety guidelines, including following the state mask mandate.
Take Home Fun
Spring Eggstravaganza
Pick up at Northeast Recreation Center Friday, April 2, 2-4 pm
Even though we can’t gather, we can still celebrate spring. Stop by Northeast Recreation Center at your registered time to pick up everything you need to celebrate spring at home. Your goodie bag will include all the ingredients you need to make a fun treat, supplies to make an art project, candy and a couple other fun surprises.
Luxton Park Monday, April 5-Friday, April 9 1-4 pm
We bring the fun to you! Fun on the Run is a staffed, portable recreation program that is scheduled at specific parks engaging youth and teens in fun activities. The program is free to participate in on a drop-in basis; no pre-registration is required. Supervision is not provided before or after the designated program times.
Open Gym
Elementary Open Gym Bottineau Recreation Center Monday, April 5 and Friday, April 9 3-5 pm
Northeast Recreation Center Tuesday, April 6 3-5 pm
Help your child get more activity! Youth can come to the gym to work on their basketball skills or join their friends in a game of 3-on-3. Everyone must have a MPRB ActivePass to enter the gym. Youth can get a free ActivePass at any recreation center.
Teen Open Gym Northeast Recreation Center Monday, April 5 and Wednesday, April 7 6-8 pm
Bottineau Recreation Center Wednesday, April 7 5:30-8 pm
Hoop it up! Improve you jump shot, meet new friends, get into shape or take a break from TV or video games. Whatever the reason, Open Basketball is the perfect place to find some action. Everyone must have a MPRB ActivePass to enter the gym. Youth can get a free ActivePass at any recreation center.
Special Activities
Young Builders and Designers
Bottineau Park Tuesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 8 4:30-6:30 pm
The Young Builders and Designers will providing free programming outdoors at Bottineau Park two evenings a week. Programming may include art, design, building and more! This free program takes place every Tuesday and Thursday, 4:30-6:30 pm throughout April and May (except Tuesday, May 11).
Nite Owlz
Northeast Recreation Center Fridays, April 2 and April 9 7-10 pm
Bottineau Recreation Center Saturdays, April 3 and April 10 6-9 pm
Is your teen sitting on the couch doing nothing? Do you want them to have a blast? Teens take over the recreation center to hang out with friends, listen to music, play video games, and more. Call your friends, get off the couch and meet at the center to join in on the fun! This programs takes place every Friday at Northeast and every Saturday at Bottineau.
