Tons of free activities for kids during Minneapolis Public Schools Spring Break, April 5-9

 

Youth are welcome at North Minneapolis recreation centers over spring break! Browse a wide variety of FREE youth and family activities below and sign up to stay busy and have fun over Spring Break!

Register online by clicking the "Register" button or visit minneapolisparks.org/register and enter the registration number in parentheses next to the activity title. You can also drop in or contact the recreation center where the program is being held.

All programs are free, but preregistration is required. All program participants must follow COVID-19 safety guidelines, including following the state mask mandate.

Spring Break Bunny Bags (#119243)
Pick up at North Commons Park: Tuesday, March 30, 3-5 pm

Pick up at Folwell Park: Thursday, April 1, 5-7 pm

Looking for family friendly activities to do during Spring Break? Pick-up a Spring Break Bunny Bag to enjoy at home! Cookie decorating, a craft project, planting seeds and supplies for an egg hunt will all be part of the fun. Perfect for four people. Sign up for a pick-up slot that works for you!

Weeklong Day Camp

Creativity and Self-Expression Day Camp (#119222)

Monday, April 5-Friday, April 9
Noon-3 pm

North Commons Park is hosting a spring break Creation & Self Expression Day Camp! This camp will explore four workshops for the week. Each group will participate in discussions and activities which include photography, health and fitness, learning about youth justice, mental health and art. On the last day will have a celebratory share out session.

Hoop it up! Improve you jump shot, meet new friends, get into shape or take a break from TV or video games. Whatever the reason, Open Basketball is the perfect place to find some action.

This activity is an ActivePass program and a pass is required to participate. Please go to your neighborhood recreation center during business hours to sign up for a free ActivePass.

Schools out! Come join us for an afternoon matinee! We will mask up and social distance so everyone can feel comfortable.

Tie Dye Tuesday (#118399)

Tuesday, April 6, 1-3 pm

Come on down to Creekview where we will bust out the tie dye ink and design our own cotton face masks for you to keep. These will be perfect to use when you go back to school!

Tuesday Two Ball (#119098)

Schools out! Hit some shots and compete in our two ball tournaments. There will be age brackets and prizes.

We will play all of the old school group games like dodge ball, big base, capture the flag, and territory. A super easy way to get active and have fun with your friends.

Sign up early for this popular class! It's silly and slimy and insanely fun. We'll get silly with silly putty, messy with muck and so much more. This is going to be a messy one, so please dress your child appropriately.

Check out all the latest technology tools at Creekview. We have new Microsoft Surface Pros, an OBIE Game Projector, and an Xbox. Challenge your buddies or just explore and experience our new devices.

Wiffle Ball Play Day (#118563)

Get excited about baseball season and spring by coming out to a wiffle ball play day brought to you by the Minnesota Twins and Playworks Minnesota! Each 30-minute play session consists of games and fun activities that teach kids about the rules of wiffle ball and help kids practice the skills needed to play. Join us for this exciting event!

Bringing an adult favorite into a teen environment. Join us as we start with a fresh canvas and turn it into something you look at every day. No matter how much experience you have in painting we want all to be welcome to come.

Is your teen sitting on the couch doing nothing? Do you want them to have a blast? Teens take over the recreation center to hang out with friends, listen to music, play video games, and more. Call your friends, get off the couch and meet at the center to join in on the fun! This programs takes place every Friday and Saturday night at Farview.
