Work is in process on a new mechanical building and installation of new mechanical equipment for the wading pool at North Mississippi Regional Park.
The project includes construction of a new pump house south of the pool and the rerouting of supply, discharge and water lines from the north end of the pool to the south end. The project is necessary to resume safe and consistent operations at the pool, which was closed most of the season in 2018 and 2019 due to recurring mechanical and safety hazards.
Construction contractors are working on behalf of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB); the project is planned to be complete this year, with testing before the pool re-opens for the 2021 season.
