Mountain bike trails remain open in Minneapolis Parks, but consider riding during off-peak times

Trail use data reveals off-peak times to schedule rides to avoid crowding trails

Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) parks and trails remain open during Gov. Walz's stay at home order, including singletrack off-road cycling trails at Theodore Wirth Regional Park and Brownie Lake Park.

All Minneapolis park users are asked to practice social distancing by staying at least six feet apart from other people not in their household. The MPRB analyzed data from 2019 to identify peak and off-peak trail use windows. If possible, please plan your rides during off-peak times to avoid potential crowding of singletrack trails:

  • Monday-Wednesday is less busy than the weekend.
  • Weekday mornings and afternoons (before 4 pm) are less busy than weekday evenings.
  • Weekend mornings and evenings (before 10 am and after 5 pm) are less busy than weekend afternoons.

Graphs with detailed ridership figures are below. Be wise and ride safe! Check out the MPRB Off-Road Cycling Trails page for trail locations and conditions.
