Improvements include restroom, lighting, water service and accessibility upgrades
Park building improvements
Work on the building began last fall and is now complete. Improvements include:
- New fixtures and lighting in existing restrooms
- New accessible/all-gender restroom
- Updated LED light fixtures for building exterior
Improved water service line
Installation of the new line is nearly complete and will result in more reliable operation of the park's wading pool and restrooms at the park building.
Softball field dugout covers
New covers are scheduled to be installed in the coming weeks at each player dugout for the six new softball fields, providing players with shade and shelter from the elements.
The improvements above are part of a sweeping overhaul of Bossen Field Park that began in 2016, including:
- Two open-play fields
- Six new softball fields, aligned in a safer layout
- Playground
- Full-size basketball court
- Pathways and parking

Every neighborhood deserves a great park.
Bossen Park's overhaul and its park building improvements included funding from NPP20, a historic agreement between the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and the City of Minneapolis. NPP20 helps address racial and economic equity across 160 neighborhood parks and provides $11 million annually to maintain, repair and replace facilities.
