New truss currently being assembled west of rail yard; parkway scheduled to reopen by fall 2017

All five spans of the old St. Anthony Parkway truss bridge have been removed and work crews are currently assembling a large steel truss that covers approximately three-fifths of the distance over Northtown Railyard. The truss will be installed later this spring.

New bridge pieces are delivered and assembled on St. Anthony Parkway, west of the bridge. St. Anthony Parkway is scheduled to reopen by fall 2017.

The new bridge will include wider pedestrian and bike lanes that connect to nearby trails and existing sidewalks. Visit www.stapbridge.com to view a timelapse of one of the old span removals, a live webcam showing current progress and other project details.

The City of Minneapolis project also features an interpretive area next to the bridge with views of the skyline over Northtown Yard. Construction on the interpretive area is expected to be substantially complete by the end of 2017.
