The Metropolitan Council is now accepting applications for four funding opportunities. Don't miss your last chance to apply for these programs in 2025!

• Newly opened! $1M in grants is available for Pre-Development activities (due July 21)
• Up to $800,000 is available in the expanded Policy & Program Development grant program (due July 21)
• Newly opened! $10M is available through the Livable Communities Demonstration Account (LCDA) (due August 11)
• Newly opened! $5.7M is available for Transit Oriented Development (TOD) projects (due August 11)

Due tomorrow, July 8, Housing Policy & Production Survey

The 2025 Housing Policy and Production Survey (HPPS) is open for all cities and townships. To maintain eligibility for LCA grant programs, cities must complete this annual survey, which consolidates information on local efforts, projects, programs, and policies that create affordable housing opportunities across the region. The survey is due on Tuesday, July 8th. If you have any questions, please contact Maddy Schwartz.

Livable Communities projects in the news

Avenues for Youth broke ground on a new building in North Minneapolis that will become their nonprofit headquarters and allow them to expand services to help 500 LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness each year (Star Tribune). The City of Minneapolis received a Livable Communities award for this project in 2024.

CAPI broke ground on a new Immigrant Opportunity Center in Brooklyn Center. The new building will include a community garden, food shelf, technology resource center, and meeting spaces (CCX Media). The City of Brooklyn Center received three grants for this project between 2022 and 2024 for pre-development and construction costs.

Livable Communities is hiring

The Met Council is currently recruiting for a new Program Officer for the Livable Communities program. This position will lead Livable Communities grantmaking activities, support cities and project teams working on development projects, and collaborate with funding partners. People with a commitment to public service and development and/or grantmaking experience are encouraged to apply by July 21.
